Singer Song writer Pete Dodds has been back in the studio to raise funds for his neighbours Granddaughter. Pete, who, during the 70's was to the Beatles-run record label, Apple explains “My Mam would see Eve playing in the garden and was shocked to hear that she had collapsed. As a result Eve now has locked in Syndrome”
Pete wanted to use his song writing talents to help Eve and those careering for her. “I wrote Heaven Holds a Place but felt that my gruff voice wouldn’t do it justice and by chance I heard Amie singing and thought her voice would be perfect for the project.” Amie, who is only 16 recorded two versions of Heaven Holds a place, an acoustic version and an orchestrated version.
Pete and Amie have recorded 4 tracks and have roped in Prelude to help. Amie has recorded 1000 Yard Stare, featuring Brian on Guitar. We are uploading the songs and would be grateful if you would consider making a donation by buying the tracks through Numubu.

Had an amazing gig last night, it has been more years then we care to remember since we last played to an audience unplugged. Thanks to Jed Grimes for inviting us along to the Acoustic Room. An brilliant audience added to the night. Have to say just turning up with 2 guitars and 3 "voices" was very liberating!
We recomend the experience to all our fellow musicians, as we are very awre in these days of technological domination, it is to easy to rely on "aids" and forget the pleasure of just standing up and performing!

I feel an unplugged festival comming on!

Fri., Jun. 22, 2012 - 5:29 AM

Very liberating to not have to haul around a lot of gear and to not have to go through a lengthy sound check.

Fri., Jun. 22, 2012 - 10:00 AM

Totally also very scary but great fun!!

Fri., Jun. 22, 2012 - 10:34 AM
Morning. If you haven't already taken advantage of the Jango Airplay advert link on the site, try it. We have and had a good result. Its generating interest and new fans in countries that we woulod struggle to get airplay.

As a band who were first around when appearances on Top of the Pops was what sold records, having reformed and having recorded a new CD, we are busy getting our heads around viral marketing and how to use the various social media sites along with You Tube to let our "old" fans know we are back in style and to promote ourselves to a potential new audience.
We would welcome any feedback or advice from those who are experienced in this field or to hear from others also getting to grips with this, with the aim of hopefully sharing the information so that we can all benefit.

I would suggest that you do a search for Folk on NuMuBu and begin sending friend requests with a personalized message. These will all be potential fans and buyers of your music...:

Tue., May. 29, 2012 - 6:02 PM

One of the issues we have is trying re-engage with the fan base from the 70's and even though silver surfing is meant to be in vogue, the fedback I'm getting is that they aren't sure about socail media sites and as to ordering on line or downloads might as well be talking a foriegn language. Trying a mix of marketing techniques to reach all potential audience. The beauty of the internet based marketing is that we are reaching fans overseas where After the Goldrush was in the top 5 in a number of charts and making contact with them. On wards and up wards!

Tue., May. 29, 2012 - 6:17 PM

I can assure you, a good many of them are on social media. I belong to a group on Facebook called Montreal Memories - I guarantee you that 75% remember After the Gold Rush, and there are almost 4,500 members in the group, mostly 40 yrs. and up. It was a big hit here. I'll do a little experiment and let you know how it goes.

Also, any of the younger folk artists on NuMuBu are potential new fans.
