Raymond Burley is one of the UK's most experienced classical guitarists, having performed numerous solo concerts, concertos, film scores, radio and television, and in most guitar ensemble combinations.
As a soloist he has toured extensively throughout the UK, Europe, North and South America, Canada and the Far East and performed and recorded with many orchestras including the BBC Symphony, the Philharmonia, English Chamber Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic.
He has given premieres of many new works by composers that include Stephen Dodgson, David Gow, Gilbert Biberian, Tom Eastwood, Bernard Stevens, Reginald Smith-Brindle, John Scott, Mark Houghton, Edmundo Vasquez, Raymond Head, John Duarte, Elis Pehkonen, Richard Stoker, James Patten, Christopher Wright, Bryan Kelly and Dudley Moore.
Raymond Burley has appeared many times at London's Wigmore Hall and South Bank Centre and given masterclasses and festivals in the UK, Vancouver, Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, Seattle, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Washington DC, New York, Princeton, Dublin, Bonn, Bremen and Lima.
His duo partners include guitarists John Mills, Alice Artzt, Gregg Nestor, Gilbert Biberian and John Feeley, singer Jacqueline Fox, flautist Chris Britton, harpsichordists Stephen Bell, Richard Leigh Harris and Gilbert Rowland, percussionist Keith Fairbairn, actress Dame Peggy Ashcroft and violinist Emanuel Salvador. His partner in the duo 'Double Vision' is the steel string guitarist Gordon Giltrap. Raymond Burley is also a member of '4 Parts Guitar' with Gordon Giltrap, John Etheridge and Clive Carroll.
He is in great demand as a teacher and has given masterclasses in the UK, Dublin, Vancouver, Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, Seattle, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Washington DC, New York, Princeton, Bremen, Bonn and Lima.
Raymond Burley's guitar was made by Philip Woodfield; he also has a signature guitar made by Santos Martinez. He has numerous recordings and publications to his credit.
